Haus des Berliner Verlages

After the completion of the Axel Springer high-rise in West Berlin, the construction of new publishing buildings in East Berlin was accelerated. The building was erected between 1970 and 1973, and the low-rise building in front of it housed the press café in GDR times. The offices of the publishing house, which were also illuminated in the evening hours, were intended to brighten up the square and convey a bustling atmosphere in the most central square in East Berlin.
